New member of the team!

September 27, 2016 Emma | Comment (0)

I have just started at Worldwide Holidays as an apprentice and Fiona has very kindly taken me under her wing to learn the ropes!

When I was younger I was always lucky enough to be taken on holiday by my parents. They took us to some great places and for me the highlight was always the excursions (jeep safari’s were always such fun!) I have some brilliant memories of exploring different resorts with my sister and two brothers-I think this is how I caught the travelling bug!

After I finished my GCSE’s I studied travel and tourism at Bournemouth and Poole College which I thoroughly enjoyed and is what led me to this job!

Fiona testing out the Arenal SkyTrek Zip Lines

September 27, 2016 Fiona | Comment (0)

I tell many of my clients about the zip wire / canopy tours that can be taken in Costa Rica. Several years ago I did the highest & longest ones at SkyTrek Arenal. It was in September, it was raining & I even went through a cloud. I was scared & cannot say I enjoyed it much.

However this year I did it again – made to do so by my partner David!. This time I absolutely loved it & actually had my eyes open.. it was amazing & I really enjoyed it. There are 7 zip lines, I was going 60 miles per hour & the highest cable was 656 feet high.. The views of Arenal Volcano & Lake were stunning & most important I felt completely safe throughout the adventure..

Cuba- the boom in tourism

May 19, 2016 Fiona | Comment (0)

I have been selling & travelling to Cuba for 17 years now. I have probably been there 12 times over the years & without doubt the biggest changes have happened in the last 6 years. Most changes have been for the better as the transport standards improved, the Casa Particulars (licensed Cuban homes- B&B’s) we use are of a great standard & with the free enterprise the Cubans are able to be self-employed, opening up lots of opportunities that visitors can enjoy – the private restaurant (paladares), shops etc.

Under India’s spell again

May 17, 2016 Cherrie | Comment (0)

India has a way of making you believe in mystical powers whether its fate, karma or destiny and that’s what we thought when a last minute opportunity to return to India happened the day after getting our Indian Visa through for a different trip later in the year. So how could we say no!

Samode Palace

Samode Palace

Having specifically designed this trip for 10 days around India’s famous ‘Golden Triangle’ it was really great to experience it ourselves and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. Despite the short time, we visited Delhi, Agra and the monument of love – The Taj Mahal; Ranthambore in wonderful tented accommodation with safari drives – seeing tiger twice out of three safaris; Jaipur with its Amber Fort and then a lovely relaxing time in the beautiful Samode Palace, before returning to Delhi. Although I would always recommend spending more time in India whether it’s to see other amazing sights or to have time to relax on a beach; at least it gives you the most fantastic experience without being totally exhausting

Pura Vida, Costa Rica 2016

May 14, 2016 Fiona | Comment (0)

Last year when I heard the announcement that British Airways were starting a direct flight to San Jose, Costa Rica, I knew that I had to be on that flight. So I booked myself & the boyfriend on the inaugural flight on the 27th April. I would never have got David (the BF) to Costa Rica unless there was a direct flight – so not only was it great news for my clients but also for me.

 1. At Gatwick- Excited  2. Our BA plane

I booked the flights so we had 10 nights in Costa Rica – not long enough but better than nothing. The flight from Gatwick was fantastic- the service was excellent & the film choice was great. We were very excited when we got to Gatwick – well I was, David was still not too happy about the length of the flight. I can fall asleep during take-off but David just finds it hard to get any sleep. I keep telling him the more he flies the easier it will be!!

A Welcome Return to Sri Lanka

October 18, 2015 Cherrie | Comment (0)

Whilst in Sri Lanka we heard the news that Sri Lanka has been given the title of Destination of 2015 by the Sunday Times.  It really didn’t come as a great surprise – being on the top of our list for a long time. Our most recent visit just confirmed it.

We have previously travelled extensively around Sri Lanka; covering the Cultural Triangle, the Central Highlands as well as the West and South Coast. We decided, due to the increasing demand to travel to Sri Lanka at all times of year, that we should complete the picture and visit in September when the East Coast is at its very best whilst the West and South Coast have their share of monsoons. With war a distant memory, the whole of the east coast is opening up into a fascinating destination which makes Sri Lanka a year-round attraction.
