Cuba- the boom in tourism

May 19, 2016 Fiona | Comment (0)

I have been selling & travelling to Cuba for 17 years now. I have probably been there 12 times over the years & without doubt the biggest changes have happened in the last 6 years. Most changes have been for the better as the transport standards improved, the Casa Particulars (licensed Cuban homes- B&B’s) we use are of a great standard & with the free enterprise the Cubans are able to be self-employed, opening up lots of opportunities that visitors can enjoy – the private restaurant (paladares), shops etc.

Under India’s spell again

India has a way of making you believe in mystical powers whether its fate, karma or destiny and that’s what we thought when a last minute opportunity to return to India happened the day after getting our Indian Visa through for a different trip later in the year. So how could we say no!

Samode Palace

Having specifically designed this trip for 10 days around India’s famous ‘Golden Triangle’ it was really great to experience it ourselves and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. Despite the short time, we visited Delhi, Agra and the monument of love – The Taj Mahal; Ranthambore in wonderful tented accommodation with safari drives – seeing tiger twice out of three safaris; Jaipur with its Amber Fort and then a lovely relaxing time in the beautiful Samode Palace, before returning to Delhi. Last year when I heard the announcement that British Airways were starting a direct flight to San Jose, Costa Rica, I knew that I had to be on that flight. So I booked myself & the boyfriend on the inaugural flight on the 27th April. I would never have got David (the BF) to Costa Rica unless there was a direct flight – so not only was it great news for my clients but also for me.

 1. At Gatwick- Excited  2. Our BA plane

I booked the flights so we had 10 nights in Costa Rica – not long enough but better than nothing. The flight from Gatwick was fantastic- the service was excellent & the film choice was great. We were very excited when we got to Gatwick – well I was, David was still not too happy about the length of the flight. I can fall asleep during take-off but David just finds it hard to get any sleep. I keep telling him the more he flies the easier it will be!!
