Costa Rica Classic Tour

San Jose (2nights), Tortuguero (2nights) Arenal Volcano (3nights) San Gerardo de Dota Cloud Forest (2 nights) Manuel Antonio (5 nights)

You start in San Jose, then transfer by road and boat to Tortuguero National Park with its dense network of canals, swamps and waterways you might see turtles hatching, glimpse caimans or crocodiles, toucans and maccaws all pointed out by your guide. Then onto Arenal Volcano with hot springs and adventure zip wires, canopy tours, and trekking. San Gerardo De Dota Cloud Forest next where you are most likely to see the Quetzal but definitely a vast range of beautiful birds. Then for your last stop the more relaxing Manuel Antonio to have a rest before you return home.

Day 1 - SAN JOSE

On arrival into San Jose International Airport you will be met by our ground agents and have a private transfer to either the Indigo Hotel a new modern boutique hotel close to the airport or upgrade to the Xandari Plantation y Spa Hotel a small exclusive hotel with panoramic view of the central valley for 2 nights BB.

Day 2 - SAN JOSE

Private guided tour to Poas Volcano & La Paz Waterfall Gardens, with lunch included. Firstly you will go to the Poas Volcano National Park considered to have the largest geyser in the world frequently displaying at irregular intervals. Then onto La Paz Waterfall Gardens where you can come close up to the beautiful natural wonders of Costa Rica from Jaguars and sloth bears to the hummingbirds and butterflies. Also taking the trail beside the five magnificent waterfalls with nine observation platforms along side the falls and the spectacular La Paz River.

Day 3 - TORTUGUERO

Early morning pick-up (approx 6.30am) to join the group travelling by road through the coffee & banana plantations and then transferring to river boat to arrive in Tortuguero to stay at the Mawamba Lodge for 2 nights FB. During your stay in Tortuguero you will be taken on a number of river trips with the guide pointing out animals and birds you would otherwise completely miss and depending on the time of year you may see the turtle nests and even possibly them hatching and making their way to the sea.

Day 5 - ARENAL VOLCANO

After breakfast you will be transferred, with the group to the lunch stop where you meet up with your private transfer driver taking you to the Arenal Volcano area for 3 nights at either the Manoa Hotel, the Lost Iguana or the Kioro Hotel all BB - Arenal Volcano is the most spectacular sight in all of Costa Rica when it is active with several hot springs resorts where you can enjoy the pools of thermomineral waters. In & around this area there are lots of activities; horse riding, mountain biking, fishing and water sports at Arenal Lake, canopy tours, suspension bridges & close by is the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge.


Day 8 - SAN GERARDO DE DOTA CLOUD FOREST

Private transfer to the San Gerardo de Dota Cloud Forest & Trogon Lodge for 2 nights. The gorgeous area lies in one of the most beautiful regions of Costa Rica most well known for being the primary habitat for the resplendent Quetzal, Costa Rica's most famous bird. Other birds found here include peccaries, tanagers, woodpeckers and hummingbirds truly a birdwatchers haven.

Day 10 - MANUEL ANTONIO

Private transfer south to the Pacific Coast & the Manuel Antonio area for 5 nights at the El Parador Hotel or the Arenas del Mar BB.

Reputed to have some of the best beaches in Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio has an ideal combination of beach and wildlife. The National park is one of the countries smallest, but is also one of its liveliest, the animals and wildlife are easily viewed here. There are lots of activities that you can enjoy in this area - deep sea fishing, snorkelling, white water rafting, take a canopy tour, visit the national park and just relax on a beach or by your hotel pool.

Day 15

Private transfer back to the International Airport to catch your flight back to the UK
