The Amazon

In Peru, the Amazon Basin is divided into several regions and encompasses nearly half of the country's land mass. Peru's Amazon Basin is dotted with Collpas, hillsides rich in salty clay that nourishes animals and birds. These are the perfect locations to spot the colourful macaws and parrots.

Iquitos is the gateway to the northern river basin and Tambopata for the southern regions. A chain of river-bound settlements and national reserves lie between the two. The southern region is the haven for macaws, parrots, monkeys and jaguars and has many lodge options in both Manu and Tambopata region.

Everyone must visit the Amazon, it is such an amazing place.
