Round Island Tour

Colombo (1nt), Sigiriya (3nts), Kandy (1nt), Nuwara Eliya (1nt), Ratnapura (1nt), Hambantota (2nts), Colombo (1nt)

While it will be impossible to see everything Sri Lanka has to offer in a single trip, this 7 night tour highlights the main sights colossal ancient monuments and serene rock carvings. The World Heritage Sites showcase the island's rich history and contribution to civilization. The largest and most dramatic of these are located in the so-called Cultural Triangle, the area formed by linking the ancient capitals of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kandy.

Day 1: Arrival transfer airport / Colombo

Meet and greet on arrival by our representative and transfer to Colombo. Afternoon proceed on a City Tour of Colombo. Return to Hotel for dinner and overnight at the Colombo Hilton.

Day 2: Colombo / Polonnaruwa / Sigiriya

After a leisurely breakfast you will leave for Polonnaruwa the second capital of Sri Lanka in the 11th and 12th centuries and visit the Lankatilleke, Thuparama and Gal Vihare. Continue to Sigiriya and check in at the Vil Uyana for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Sigiriya / Anuradhpura / Sigiriya

 After breakfast leave for Anuradhapura the first capital of Sri Lanka. Here you will see the remains of the Brazen Palace, the Sri Maha Bodhi a tree over 2000 years old, grown from the branch of the very tree beneath which the Buddha attained enlightenment. Visit the ruins of the Ruwanweliseya Dagaba, see the 2nd Century BC shrine containing the Buddha’s Collar bone relic, the Abhayagiriya temple and the Jetawanaramaya dagobas. Next you visit the Kuttam Pokuna and the Samadhi Buddha (a statue of the Buddha in a meditative pose), this is being acknowledged worldwide as a masterpiece. Return to Vil Uyana for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Sigiriya / Dambulla / Kandy

This morning enjoy a visit to Sigiriya Rock Fortress and having climbed the rock you will encounter the remains of the Palace and its environs.  En route to Kandy you will visit the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple and then visit a Spice Garden Matale before arriving in Kandy. Check in at the Mahaweli Reach Hotel.  In the afternoon visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and witness a Kandyan Cultural Dance performance. Return to the Mahaweli Reach for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Kandy / Pinnawela / Kandy

Leave on sightseeing tour of Kandy including the Upper Lake Drive. Visit the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawela and then visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya. Return to Mahaweli Reach Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Kandy / Nuwara / Eliya

After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya and see women plucking the “Gold’ tea leaves and visit the factory whilst en route to Nuwara Eliya with an afternoon tour of Little England.  Dinner and overnight at Grand Hotel Golf wing rooms.

Day 7: Nuwara Eliya / Yala

After breakfast you will depart for Yala.  There will be an afternoon visit to Yala National Park or Bundala Wildlife Park. See a vast array of animals including deer, peacock, elephant, wild buffalo and the lucky visitors may get to see a leopard or bear. Check in at the Yala Village for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Yala / Galle / Colombo

Shortly after breakfast you will visit the Galle Dutch Fort.  Return to Colombo for your transfer to the Airport. Alternatively extend your stay at a beach resort of your choice.
